Praise for Ian Clewlow

I am so sorry that it's taken me so long to send this, I but the transition from prison has been a lot more challenging than I could possibly have imagined.

I do sincerely want to thank you for representing me at the Parole Board hearing in December. Your contribution was invaluable.

When you were recommended to me, I was told that you had previously served on a Board and believed your knowledge and insight would be invaluable, and I wasn't disappointed. On at least two occasions you were able to draw the members' attention to correct procedure and remembering at the very end to insist I read to them the list I had made of my understanding of my triggers and vulnerabilities, was very insightful.

Most of all, I came to recognise that your continual reminders that I build a relationship with my Probation Officer might have been the game changer. His confidence that he would be able to manage me effectively probably tipped the balance in my favour. At times it felt contrived sending him updates of my progress, but I believe it assured him that I would be cooperative and transparent.

I leave the Approved Premises on Wednesday where everyone has been particularly helpful and made me feel safe. Many more challenges lie ahead and in effect the real journey only starts now, but I know that, though it might still take some time, I will get back on my feet and be able to put this experience behind me.

Wishing you all the best.
