After five years of working with SL5 Legal, Ian Clewlow was offered the opportunity to return to the Parole Board of England and Wales to work as a Chair of Oral Hearing panels.
His appointment was approved by the Public Appointments Committee and he formally returned to work for the Parole Board in October 2023.
This is a fantastic opportunity for him and one that will enable him to build upon and utilise the experience that he has gained from working as a Prison Lawyer and Advocate for SL5 Legal clients.
Whilst delighted to take on this new challenge, Ian is disappointed to have to leave behind the personal legal representation of clients, about which he has been passionate.
He hopes that the five years as being a 'customer' of Parole Board services will enable him to better reflect upon how he should behave and respond as a Board Chair.
Ian will remain committed to his goal of ensuring that prisoners achieve fair hearings and reviews.
We are very sorry to lose Ian from our team. He has been a great colleague and has provided a brilliant service to our clients. He will always remain an honorary member of SL5.
