Yasmin Karabasic recently represented a client serving a long extended determinate sentence. She acted for him at his first Parole Board review in 2024, where the Board directed his release.

After spending 10 months in the community, her client was recalled to custody. At his Parole Board paper review following his recall, Yasmin challenged the recall and was successful in persuading the Parole Board that the release test was met and that release should be directed without the need for an oral hearing.

As a result, her client was spared the stress and uncertainty of lengthy Parole Board delays while awaiting an oral hearing.
