SL5 Legal is following government guidance in relation to self-isolation in order to remain open for business. Staff will continue to work during our usual office hours of 9am – 5.30pm. As a protective measure for our staff and clients, our staff will be working from home for the foreseeable future.
We have good facilities in place to ensure that we can maintain regular phone contact. If you are unsure about who you need to contact or wish to speak to a specific member of the SL5 team, please call 020 7388 8333. If the person you need to speak to is unavailable, please leave a clear message. Many of our clients are in custody. Unfortunately, we are not permitted to make any face-to-face visits to our clients in prison at the moment due to government restrictions. We are doing everything we can to make alternative arrangements for visits and hearings. We have access to video link technology which enables us to conduct video links from our own PCs. We have already expanded the number of Virtual Meeting Rooms (VMRs) we have available. We have asked for arrangements to be made for existing video link facilities in prisons to be expanded. We have also asked prisons to make private telephone consultations widely available to enable us to have proper extended and confidential discussions with our clients.
We have been working closely with the Law Society, Legal Aid Practitioners Group and The Association of Prison Lawyers to lobby prisons, the Ministry of Justice and the Parole Board to make the changes required to allow us to maintain contact with our clients and to ensure hearings go ahead where they can. We have also been lobbying for suitable adjustments to be made for our clients to maintain contact with their families and friends.
